This park was built by volunteers, with donations in honor of a toddler named Liam.

Exercise outdoors at the playground, which features fitness equipment and a fitness trail to give you a little boost of fun in your workout.

Stop by the new butterfly house donated by the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife, where you can view all the beautiful butterflies and plants from the outside of the house everyday.

Pick up information on butterflies and how to attract them to your yard, or take a tour every Friday from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Relay for Life is one event that brings the Cape Coral charity community together.

Each year thousands of Cape Coral residents gather at a local high school to walk and raise money for cancer.

With food, games, and music, teams of people have fun while raising funds to fight cancer and increase awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.

In 2009 alone, Cape Coral raised $129,000 during the 24-hour event – just one example of the generosity in the Cape Coral community.

The city is also known for embracing diversity.

At Pop’s Café in City Hall, the eatery is operated and staffed by “Special Populations”.

In fact, 36 City of Cape Coral employees, who are adults with developmental disabilities, rotate job sites throughout the week.

Pops Café is just one of the many job and training opportunities that the City of Cape Coral affords the participants enrolled at “Special Populations”.

Cape Coral is also home to the Tony Rotino Senior Center.

This center provides citizens 55 years and older with social, recreational, and educational programs that sustain and improve their quality of life in the community.

With computer classes, craft classes, monthly book discussions, writing classes to improve literary skills, card games, and field trips it’s easy to feel young again.

…which benefits local chapters of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and Builders Care — a non-profit division of the Lee Building Industry Association.

Entertainment will be provided by area youth singers including local school children from Evangelical Christian School, and “The Nabbies,” a talented group of youth from Cape Coral.

Area restaurants, including BUBBA’S RoadHouse, GEO’s Italian Restaurant, and The Joint in Cape Harbour, will donate refreshments for the event. The evening will feature a Rockefeller Center-style lighting of a Christmas tree and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well.

Helping Hands for the Holidays will take place: Monday, November 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Team Aubuchon Main Office Building in Club Square.
